Can I donate plasma?

At KEDPLASMA we follow the stringent health and safety guidelines set by the food and drug administration for plasma donation, in order to ensure the safety of our donors and the quality of the plasma we collect.

To participate in our donation program, you must comply with the following plasma donation requirements:

  • be at least 18 years old (19 in Alabama)
  • weigh at least 110 pounds
  • be in good general health
  • provide a valid and current government issued photo ID
  • provide current proof of residency
  • provide a Social Security Card

Our donors undergo a thorough pre-screening physical performed by our medical staff. During this exam, they will review information related to past medical history, current medications, travel, tattoos and piercings, and other relevant information to determine each donor’s suitability to participate in our program.

Can I donate plasma if I’ve had COVID-19?

If you have recovered from COVID-19 and are interested in donating plasma, please contact us. Our staff will inform you of the most recent CDC guidelines.

Can I donate plasma if I wasn’t eligible to donate in the past?

Two types of situations can occur. You may have been unable to donate temporarily (for example if you just had a tattoo) or permanently (if you have tested ‘reactive’ to viral agents like HIV, HBV and HCV). If you have any doubts about which group you fall in, come to one of our plasma donation centers to talk with a member of our medical staff.

What should I bring on my first visit?

Nervous about your first donation? We know that new experiences can feel a little daunting at first, so to make things easier, we’ve compiled a quick checklist of the things to bring on your first plasma donation center visit:

  • valid ID (driver’s license, etc)
  • proof of residency (current lease, piece of mail with address, utility bill, etc)
  • social security card
  • (optional) some form of entertainment (book, magazine, music)

Why do we need you?

Plasma cannot be produced artificially. It is obtained only by the generous donation of healthy individuals for the eventual use of others in need.
